Jesus was MAD!

15 And He made a scourge of cords, and drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables; 16 and to those who were selling the doves He said, “Take these things away; stop making My Father’s house a [f]place of business.” 17 His disciples remembered that it was written, “ Zeal for Your house will consume me.”

Did you know that Jesus got angry?  Like, really angry!  He was whipping things and tipping over tables and destroying a marketplace.

I didn’t know this about Jesus for a long time.  I thought he was always happy and gentle and smiling and laughing.  Hmmm.  Jesus angry.  That’s such a weird image.  Even now, after a few years digesting this, I still have trouble imagining this scene and fitting that facet of Jesus into my picture of Him.

This is a game changer.  If Jesus got angry, then that must mean it’s ok for me to be angry.  Concept?  Freedom concept, actually.  This means that I have the freedom to feel anger and frustration, and things other than happy, perfect smiles!  One more step of the journey in understanding myself and my emotions and how I relate all of me to Jesus.

What do you think about when you hear about Jesus getting angry?
